The Creativity Network has been working to foster dialog within the creative community, and to advocate for support and awareness of the significant and measurable value that arts, culture, and arts-related business has on the City. One way it has done this is to host regular salons, lightly moderated, freewheeling, but topical conversations with people who are doing interesting and/or important work in Long Beach.
On Tuesday, January 29th, at 7 PM Utopia Restaurant hosts the next salon, which will feature special invited guests Dwight and Cheryl Bennett, founders of the 2nd City Council Art Gallery + Performance Space + Sato Garden. The gallery, located on Alamitos between 4th & 5th in the old Wille’s Tin Shop, has consistantly raised the bar by bringing top drawer jurors, using professional display techniques, and featuring California artists from all walks of life.
In addition to creating the annual Women’s Festival of the Arts, they’ve also employed professional artists to work with at-risk children in foster care, and displayed their work in the gallery. Their commitment to art, artists, and community are unflagging.
