2:07pm | Due to the interest generating from the local community and businesses, the Downtown Long Beach Associates’ (DLBA) has decided to expand the Third Annual Latin American Parade and Festival, extending the application deadline for vendor and parade participants until Friday, August 25, 2011. The extension will allow additional vendors and community partners interested in becoming involved to submit their information for consideration.

“We’ve had a great response from the community so far,” said DLBA President and CEO Kraig Kojian. “The decision to expand the footprint of this year’s event will make it possible to feature even more vendors and participants.”

The DLBA also has limited opportunities for corporate sponsors and promotional packages ranging from $1,000 to $10,000 still available. Application forms and information about sponsorships and promotional packages can be downloaded at www.downtownlongbeach.org.

The DLBA produces and sponsors this free event in partnership with the office of Councilmember Dr. Robert Garcia (First District). The Latin American Parade and Festival is expected to draw between 5,000 and 7,000 people, feature more than 50 parade entries and over 30 vendors.

The Third Annual Latin American Parade and Festival will begin at 3 p.m. on Pine Avenue and 6th Street with a variety of entries representing Latin American culture, including marching bands, floats, community organizations and dance performers. The parade route will end at The Promenade and 4th Street where the festival, which concludes at 9 p.m., will feature live music, dance lessons, performance groups, delicious authentic Latin American cuisine and a children’s activity area.
