11:00am | First Fridays is always a good time. Bixby Knolls is loaded with interesting restaurants, innovative gallery and performance spaces, and eclectic retail.
Many people are drawn to the grandure of the Expo Building, which has two galleries, a theatre, and fun activities for young and old alike. Still, further South, all kinds of fun stuff goes on.
For example, monster musicial genius Orlando Greenhill will be at Elise’s Tea Room [3924 Atlantic Avenue], throwing down the gauntlet and challenging everyone to musical duels. Bring an instrument, or just your voice, and he’ll play with you. I’m so there!
Salon Medusa [4232 Atlantic] is hosting local favorite Mike the Poet, The Potential Lunatics, and art by Scott Hamilton.
At 9 PM, the fire dancing troupe Sirena Serpentina will be performing in the parking lot of Nino’s Restaurant [3853 Atlantic] and, after 10, they’ll be hosting the hot new game: Drink & Draw!
Gallery Expo [4321 Atlantic] is presenting “California’s Cool Car Culture,” a collection of sculptures, installations, and photographs. Also inside the Expo building, catch the acoustic jazz stylings of Timbreline, and visit the Jones Gallery.
First Fridays is a great opportunity to discover Bixby Knolls, catch some great art, enjoy music, get some dinner, and otherwise have a good time. I’ll see you there!
