This month’s First Fridays in Bixby Knolls on March 6 will celebrate Women’s History Month with myriad art exhibits, performances by local musicians and even food-centric celebrations to celebrate the women who have shaped our lives today with their dedication to music, art and culture.
Three photography exhibits will be on display, one by Krk Dominguez, owner of The Record Truck, who will be exhibiting his very own photography show in celebration of Women’s History Month, and two at Expo Arts Center that will feature their Women in History and Women in Rock photography exhibits.
Chef Tech Cooking School will host a French cooking class honoring renowned cook, Julia Child, at 6:30PM. Sign up as soon as possible as spots are limited.
MOVE will present a Rock Goddesses celebration featuring an all-woman line-up of local musical artists Rachel Star Albright, Heather Sommerhauser, Emily Odell, Rebecca Lynn, Ashley Elizabeth Allen, Vanessa Luciana and Rachel Rufrano with “some guys handling instruments,” too.
Women’s History Month’s special musical guests will include Shy but Flyy and Robi Duganne at About U, Alyssandra Nighswonger at Historical Society of Long Beach, Taylor Crawford at DRNK, Bearcoon at The Coffee Bean, Lovely Outlaws at Platform 2, and Twisted Angels and the South Coast Chorale at Nino’s Italian Restaurant, while the Cog n’ Crank will host DJ Eusebio Akasa and Desirable D, who will be spinning all vinyl sets in celebration of women in music.

Once other businesses start to close, Nino’s Italian Restaurant, The Factory, Willmore, Atun, and EJ Malloy’s will be open late for “For First Fridays After Hours” with food, drinks, and music. Party on, neighbors!
