The time to thank the woman who gave you life is fast approaching. Perhaps you plan on taking her to one of the many lovely brunches that take place annually this time of year. Maybe you plan on hanging at home. Or maybe you’re up for trying something different.

This year, the Post explored a few alternative options you have for bonding with your madre. Be it pottery, working up a sweat, or getting a special kayak deal…here are some new Mother’s Day options to go with Long Beach’s brunch scene.

Creating Pottery at Clay Ceramics Studio

Enjoy snacks, mimosas and the joy of creating your own personalized ceramic mom mug at Clay Ceramics Studio in downtown Long Beach on Sunday. At $75 per person, Clay Ceramics Studio offers moms and children of varying edges a chance to participate in a session dedicated to celebrating the best of “Mums & Mugs.” Session times are listed as 12:30PM to 2:30PM, 3:00PM to 5:00PM and 5:30 to 7:30PM. For more information, check out the Clay Ceramics Studio website, here

Mother’s Day Yoga

Ready to work up a sweat with your mamacita? Various yoga studios throughout Long Beach are operating on a normal schedule, including Yoga on 3rd, Purple Yoga and Yogalution. You can hit up the trademark yoga on the bluff at Bluff Park at 11:00AM.

For those looking for something special with their tiny tots, Yogalution offers Mine and Me Yoga from 3:30PM to 4:30PM at their studio, located at 3141 East Broadway. Take your little one and get your vinyasa on.

Run, for the Love of Your Mom

What better way to show your love than working off those kcals…most likely prior to a brunch? For those inclined, the Asics 5th Annual Mother’s Day 5k/10k Fun Run/Walk is on hand to help. Both races start at 8:00AM on the Long Beach Bike Path at Ocean and 54th Place, according to the website. Registration for the 5k is $30 for children aged six to 17 and $35 for adults aged 18 or older; registration for the 10k is $35 for children aged six to 17 and $40 for adults aged 18 or older. Running

Chilling at El Dorado Nature Center
A nice, relaxed time is guaranteed to be had at the El Dorado Nature Center—be it for walking, picnicking, meditating or chilling. The 105 acres of land and occasional wildlife are a natural haven for some mom bonding time. It’s your choice on how to use it. On a day expected to glean some sunshine from what have been mostly partly cloudy skies, you’d be wise to soak up some vitamin D and enjoy the natural conversation often spurred by wandering the semi-wilderness of a municipal park. Mothers, children and nature: a combination made in heaven.

Kite Surfing
You can see it now: the delight on mom’s face as the wind whips her face and hair from the perch of a kite surf. Yep, you guys did it! For a novel approach to active bonding, check out SoCal KiteSurfing, and reserve a lesson for the two of you. You’ll really make an impact.

OR….you can always just try out brunch at your local Long Beach jam. Like we said, the same faves from last year are also offering specials. Show mom some love and grab the tab.
