A few girlfriends and I went out to celebrate an early New Year’s Eve and found the place filled and busily humming with patrons. With no reservations, we had to sit close to the door—a bit chilly, but it was fine. The waitress and servers were most attentive, and the atmosphere was pleasant.
Although I liked the old feel of the previous Christy’s, this new modern, streamlined look does give the place a more contemporary feel. With its gorgeous chandelier over the well-stocked bar, use of dark woods, slate floors, and black and white photos on the walls, the place looked splendid.
We ordered cocktails and a nice shrimp appetizer: prosciutto wrapped shrimp. A tower of grilled shrimp wrapped in prosciutto, drizzled with a balsamic glace on a grilled watermelon slice, made the lovely presentation, and the flavors were nice. I would have preferred the shrimp a little less cooked, as mine was a bit tough, and I think another melon—perhaps a honeydew or cantaloupe—might have brought out the sweetness of the shrimp better in contrast to the savory prosciutto.
For our entrees, I ordered the pesto chicken pizza, and my friends ordered the chicken piccata. My pizza had a nice thin crust, and the toppings were just right with a very tasty pesto sauce. The chicken piccata was flavorful and plentiful, and I heard no complaints from my dinner companions.
Overall I would say this was a nice experience: good food, well priced, and in a nice setting. Definitely deserves a return visit, as I have my eye on a few more dishes that I still want to try. Until next time…..Bon Appetite!
