crusticxmasboxChristmas may be more than a month away, but that’s not stopping Crustic Artisan Breads from getting into the holiday spirit early. The Long Beach-based artisan bread delivery company has just announced the release of it’s Crusitc & Friends Artisan Holiday Boxes, which are a collaboration between the company and other small-time California food artisans.

“Small artisan craftsmen who specialize in the creation of a certain product are incredibly passionate about what they do,” said Crusitc Founder Madelaine Ambrus. “That’s why I decided to assemble a holiday offering of distinct and delicious food products made by like-minded individuals who care about sustainability, refuse to compromise on quality and craft a distinctive gourmet offering.”

The holiday boxes will be available for delivery from December 10 through 24 and will be hand-delivered within Crustic’s current delivery zone, which stretches from Los Angeles to Orange County. Customers will have the choice to have their holiday boxes delivered to them in either a savory box or a sweet box.

The savory box will include Strawberry Balsamic Bread Spread and Rosemary bread from Crustic, Chocolate Sauce from Z-Confections in Los Angeles, naughty constable salami from The Meatmen in San Diego, a Harvest Press (with persimmon) from Grace & I in Los Angeles, and about a half pound of Bovoncino Cheese from Bohemian Creamery in Sebastopol. The sweet box will include Spice Plum Bread and Almond Coconut Chocolate Desert Bread from Crustic, Tasty Treason salami from The Meatmen, a Fruit & Nutt Press with dried plums and apples from Grace & I, Salted Caramel Sacue from Z Confections, and another half pound of Bovincino Cheese from Z Confections.

Ambrus says that these holiday boxes should help the marketability of the artisan companies that she has partnered with.

“The quality of each individual item in these gift boxes is incredible, but because many of these artisans are so focused on doing what they do well, they don’t have a lot of distribution outside of their production area,” said Ambrus. “Therefore, not only are Crusitc & Friends Artisan Gift Boxes really unique on an individual product level, but also in that many of the items included could not be purchased by the average consumer unless he or she drove out to the individual markets where the Artisans retail. That was one of my goals in assembling these boxes, to make amazing artisan foods accessible to mainstream consumers, especially during the holiday season when everyone is looking for something special.”

Customers who are interested in having a holiday box delievered right to their door can pre-order them through December 10 either online or at the monthly Williams-Sonoma Artisans Market at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa.
