If Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers and brought it all the way to Long Beach, it probably wouldn’t be as good as a Proper’s Pickle.
The Long Beach-based company was started by local brothers Bijan Noori and Pejmon Noori earlier this year with the simple vision of just making something tasty.
“Our philosophy is to have fun,” Bijan, 29, said. “We work very hard to produce an excellent product, but we would not be doing this if we did not enjoy it.”
The brothers originally started making pickles to give to friends and family, but found that large batches were easier to make. The pickles are fresh and crunchy with a salty and sour taste that “definitely packs a punch,” Bijan said. He said the company only uses simple ingredients.
The Noori brothers aim to keep friendliness as part of their business model, and they have already gained traction in the short six months their business has been around.
Proper’s Pickle sells their products at local farmer’s markets, but hopes to expand to restaurants and small grocers soon.
Bijan said Long Beach was the perfect launching area for their business.
“It is a dynamic city that is constantly pioneering local involvement. There are always great events going on and the people here have the best attitudes, which makes it the most ideal place to start any business,” Bijan said. “We would love to expand into different regions without compromising our vision, ‘We Make a Proper Pickle.'”
The company sells its pickles through its website. Bijan and Pejmon also offer free home delivery within Long Beach to those who place orders through [email protected].
