In the days leading up to Halloween, a large percentage of Americans stock up on the basic necessities: Kit Kat bars, Snicker minis, Mars bars, Hershey’s, Sour Patch Kids, Smarties and more processed treats that embody the darkest nightmares of dentists everywhere.

Feeling basic? Long Beach Creamery gets you.

For those looking to take things up a notch in the adult Halloween party category, or for those who want their children to sample more highbrow dental nightmares, Long Beach Creamery will be hosting “Tracee’s Wicked Treats Pop-Up,” from 7:00PM to 9:00PM, dedicated to satisfying that sweet tooth with gobs of gourmet chocolate.

“At the Creamery, Wicked Treats is mostly known for being an ingredient contributor for ice creams like Wicked Treats Crunch and Peanut Butter Cup, but some people may not know that we really specialize in larger events and customized chocolates,” said Wicked Treats creator and owner Tracee Schmidt. “Dina [Long Beach Creamery’s owner] and I have been talking about the possibility of a pop-up for a while, and figured Halloween would be a great time to do it.”

Schmidt said she’s been making chocolate since she was a kid, but “took the plunge” to make it her full-time gig a few years ago.

The locally-made confections are the stuff us non-dentists dream of.

“They are the perfect hostess gift for your Halloween parties—or gifts for the hard workers at your office on Halloween Monday,” Long Beach Creamery writes on their event page.

Schmidt will be selling five-packs of the gourmet chocolates as well as providing samples. Such samples include flavors like “Salted Caramel,” “Whoa Nellie Buttercrunch” and “Vanilla Bean Cream,” described as a “Mexican-vanilla bean fondant encased in 55 percent dark chocolate.”

The packs of chocolate will include “Peanut Butter + Cocoa Hazelnut Butter” (PB + CHB) and “Peanut Butter Cup.”

Long Beach Creamery has a history of spotlighting local food makers in a pop-up capacity—makers such as Black Ring Coffee—attributing their own success to the concept.

“It’s a pop-up concept that helps this Long Beach-based business get started,” said Long Beach Creamery founder Dina Amadril back in January. “We are paying forward the favor that Farmlot 59 did for us when we started.”
