Zagat just released its list of The Top 50 Best Restaurants in L.A. for its 2016 guide and two of those meticulously reviewed locations are, not unexpectedly, in Long Beach.

Chianina Steakhouse coming in at 8th in the region is no surprise. The restaurant not only boasts a trend-setting cocktail program, but lives up to its namesake by rearing its own grass-fed, organically raised Chianina cattle; a tall and towering breed nearly impossible to find outside of Italy. Recommended dishes were the bone marrow, bone-in rib eye and chocolate cake with caramel sauce.

With Michael Dene at the helm, it’s no wonder a second from his trio of Long Beach restaurants (Chianina, Michael’s on Naples and Michael’s Pizzeria) made the top 10. While Michael’s on Naples Ristorante was ranked 4th for Zagat’s Top 50 Restaurants in 2014 and came in at the bottom of the top 10 this year, we’re still proud to say reviewers are digging the grilled octopus, handmade spaghetti with lobster and the strip steak with cipollini onions.

Also of note, 555 East American Steakhouse came in ranked at a respectable 32nd place, with 26 points in the food category. Listed below are the Top 10, but you can click here to check out the entire list of the 50 Top Food winners.

As Long Beach’s food scene continues to thrive, here’s hoping we’ll have three in the top ten next year or, who knows, maybe even one in the top spot. Dine on, beachers!
