The annual Long Beach Mardi Gras Parade and Festival will crown Mayor Robert Garcia King and Vice-Mayor Suja Lowenthal Queen next weekend.
The free event, sponsored by the Aquarium of the Pacific, will take place on February 7, with a parade proceeding down Rainbow Harbor, kicking off at the Aquarium of the Pacific and leading back to live bands and more at Shoreline Village. The parade will take place at 2:00PM.
Other activities include a trackless train ride down the esplanade between Yard House and the Aquarium from 1:00PM to 4:00PM; the LALAs dance troupe dancing in the parade; the Sea Funk Brass Band on the Off Boardwalk Stage from noon to 1:15PM; Zydeco Mudbugs on the Off Boardwalk Stage from 1:45PM to 4:45PM; the Steven Gale One Man Band at Pelican Pier Pavilion from 1:00PM to 5:00PM; a free face painter from 1:00PM to 4:00PM; and a stilt walking duo from 2:00PM to 4:00PM.
The festival will continue Sunday with Zydeco Mudbugs on the Off Boardwalk Stage from 2:00PM to 5:00PM; face painter from 1:00PM to 4:00PM; and a stilt walking duo from 2:00PM to 4:00PM.
Both days will include Mardi Gras food specials, costumes, giveaways and more.
