In anticipation of bringing the musical version Big Fish to the Carpenter Center later this month, Musical Theatre West (MTW) announced today it will be screening the Tim Burton movie of the same name on October 16 for free.
The 2003 film and Broadway musical chronicle the fictional life of Edward Bloom (played in the film by Ewan McGregor), who explains his lavish life experiences to his skeptical son. It’s up to the viewers whether or not they believe Bloom’s tales of being in the circus, encountering an evil witch, discovering a seemingly perfect town and falling in love at first sight.
The free screening, presented by MTW, the Long Beach Cinematheque and The Frida Cinema, will take place on the rooftop of the Long Beach Arena parking structure, located at 300 E. Ocean Blvd., on October 16 at 7PM. Parking is $10 per car.
Guests are welcome to bring low-back chairs, blankets, food and picnic baskets to the movie screening.
The musical Big Fish, presented by MTW, will run at the Carpenter Center on the Cal State Long Beach campus from October 31 to November 16.
