The Long Beach Museum of Art is hosting it’s LBMA After Dark reception tonight, and will be celebrating three new exhibits, showcasing some excellent live music by Greater California, and kicking up the party atmosphere with DJ Fando y Lis. Food will be available for purchase.

There are three exhibitions that opened earlier in the month, each with an interesting focus. Surviving Hard Times examines the accomplishments of the historical Works Progress Administration during the years 1933 – 1943. Several of the paintings have only recently been discovered and offer a fascinating historical reference to Southern California in the 1930s.

3133º Fahrenheit explores modern techniques used in creating art in glass, and Sweet Subversives is a unique gathering of over 30 drawings by Southern California artists who explore their personal vision of what a drawing means to them and how they achieve this vision.

Admission is $10, and the event runs from 7 – 10 PM.
