12:51pm | Councilmember Robert Garcia, accompanied by zombies, superheroes, and other comic book and movie characters, will host a Halloween weekend kick-off, featuring the opening of the “Zombie Art” exhibit, featuring 16 local artists, tomorrow, Friday, October 28, at the Long Beach Pedaler Society, site of the “Zombie Art” exhibit, 635 North Pine Avenue at 11:00am.
The event kick-offs Halloween weekend in downtown Long Beach, which will include Long Beach Comic Con and Long Beach Zombie Walk.
Long Beach Comic Con returns for its third year at the Convention Center for two days of artists’ exhibits, panels, and other events. Organizers from Comic Con and Zombie Walk, as well as some of the featured “Zombie Art” artists will be present at the kick-off event and Exhibit Opening.
Long Beach Zombie walk also marks its third year in the City, but for the first time the event is being held downtown, and record-breaking crowds of costumed Zombies and Zombie-hunters from throughout the region are expected to fill downtown, culminating in a rare performance by the popular band Oingo Boingo. Zombie Walk is organized and sponsored by Long Beach Cinematheque.
“Zombie Walk, the Long Beach Comic Con and the Zombie Art Exhibit are creating an incredibly exciting weekend for Downtown Long Beach, and hopefully the start of a Halloween tradition,” said Garcia. “I want to thank Superman, Darth Vader and the thousands of Zombies for boosting our local economy.
“Comic Con and Zombie Walk are two of the most fun and unique events we have in our City, and I’m really encouraging everyone to come out and participate in the festivities.”
Representatives of Comic Con and Zombie Walk, as well as some of the featured “Zombie Art” artists will be present Friday morning, as will riders from the Pedaler Society.
