For the fifth year in a row, Long Beach Cinematheque will present “Harold and Maude” under the stars in the historic Sunnyside Cemetery on Valentine’s Day, continuing a quirky local tradition for lovebirds and movie enthusiasts alike.

“One of the most beloved and unique love stories of all time, 1971′s ‘Harold and Maude’ is at once a hilarious comedy, a unique romance, a provocative and inspiring work of existentialism, and always an opportunity to sit back and listen to some great Cat Stevens tunes,” said Long Beach Cinematheque founder Logan Crow in a statement.

Gates for the screening will open at 6:30PM, music will begin at 7:30PM and the film will begin at 8:00PM on February 14. Attendees are encouraged to bring low-back chairs and blankets, as well as food and picnic baskets. Limited parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis. There is also street parking near the cemetery.

Admission is $12 for general admission and free for Long Beach Cinematheque/The Frida Cinema card-carrying members. To purchase tickets, click here. In the event of rain, all tickets will be refunded and the screening will be canceled.
