Heroes and Villains put their differences aside for the two-day event that is the Long Beach Comic and Horror Con. It wasn’t unusual on this day to see Batman posing with his deadliest nemesis while delighted fans snapped photos of the two. Or Spider-man taking the day off from wrangling a brain-eating zombie to snap a souvenir photo of his own.

The Long Beach Comic Con, which began in 2009 at the Long Beach Convention Center, has seen its attendance grow each year since it started as a single day’s celebration of popular culture based on comic books and graphic novels.

Attendees dressed in elaborate, often homemade costumes, with masks tilted back on their heads to examine back issues of their favorite Superhero adventures. Others took the opportunity to discover new books put out by artists hoping to be the next big thing and possibly to see their original characters strutting the aisles of next year’s event.
