More than 2,000 homebound seniors across Southern California had something to be thankful for on Thanksgiving Day, when they were treated to traditional turkey dinner thanks to Independence at Home (IAH) by SCAN Health Plan.

The 22nd annual event brought turkey dinners with all the trimmings, along with greeting cards crafted by local schoolchildren, delivered directly to seniors’ doorsteps across Southern California, including 1,010 in Long Beach alone.

“The holidays can be a difficult time for seniors, particularly for those with minimal resources and minimal opportunities for holiday celebrations with family and friends,” said Denise Likar, vice president of IAH.
