The International Quilt Festival comes to the Long Beach Convention Center this weekend, starting on Friday, July 25th and running through Sunday, July 27th. Quilting is an ancient art form, but has seen an amazing resurgence in the last few years. New tools, techniques, and materials have elevated the craft to, in some cases, the level of fine art.
The Festival will feature exhibitions of work by top quiltmakers, more than 90 begining and and advanced classes, vendors, and the ‘Make It University,’ which includes hands-on, hour-long workshops, demonstrations, and challenges: Everything from screen printing, collage, and mixed-media jewelry to embossed metal designs.
