Legends of New Orleans will take place at the Queen Mary on Saturday, July 28 from 2:00pm to 10:00pm. The festival will welcome live performances at the waterfront Queen Mary Event Park by several New Orleans-style artists including Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Allen Toussaint, Irma Thomas and Rebirth Brass Band.
Kenny Wayne Shepherd is known as one of the best young blues guitarists of the 21st Century. Barely into his 30’s and hailing from Louisiana, Shepherd has sold millions of records, has seen multiple songs reach the Top 10 charts and has graced the stage with all time musical stars like Stevie Ray Vaughan. Allen Toussaint has been coined as one of the most influential musical figures in New Orleans R&B. His career has spanned over forty years and throughout he has produced, composed, arranged and performed with music giants such as Paul McCartney, Elvis Costello and Joe Cocker to name just a few. Known as the soul queen of New Orleans, Irma Thomas is one of America’s most distinctive and classic R&B singers, noted as a “treasure from the golden age of soul music who remains as compelling and powerful as ever” by Rounder Records. Rebirth Brass Band is a New Orleans staple with a signature sound of heavy funk and soul that evolved from first playing on the streets of the French Quarter then later on to major stages across the world.
