Long Beach city employees and friends of former city employee Chrissy Strong-Marshall, who passed away six years ago, will battle it out in a kickball tournament this weekend for charity.

Strong-Marshall was a Buerau Manager for the City of Long Beach Parks, Recreation and Marine Department before her death in 2009 at age 40.

The fifth annual Chrissy Strong-Marshall Memorial Kickball Tournament will benefit the City of Hope and the National Law Enforcement Cancer Support Foundation, which provides free emotional support, guidance and resources to all members of the law enforcement community during a cancer experience.

This year 12 teams, including last year’s champions, the Long Beach Police Officers Association, are expected to participate in the tournament.

The kickball tournament will begin Saturday at 8:00AM at the baseball fields at El Dorado Park, located at 7550 East Spring Street.
