The 4th Annual Latin American Parade and Festival, returning to downtown Long Beach on September 8 after 5,000 attended last year’s event, is seeking vendors, performers, and parade participants, as well as nominations for Grand Marshal and Community Marshals in an announcement by Downtown Long Beach Associates (DLBA) President and CEO Kraig Kojian. Individuals and organizations can submit names of hard-working, dedicated citizens who have had a positive impact on the Latin American community to be honored.
The Grand Marshal will be a person of Latin American descent who currently serves, or has served, in a leadership role and who has affected positive change within the community. Community Marshals will be individuals who serve in supporting roles and whose dedication and hard work have had a significant impact on the Latin American community. Nomination forms are available for download at www.downtownlongbeach.org and are due to the DLBA by 5:00pm on August 3.
In regards to vendors, performers, entertainers, artists, and parade participants who are interested in taking part are encouraged to submit their applications, which are available for download at www.downtownlongbeach.org on or before August 13.
The Fourth Annual Latin American Parade and Festival will begin at 3:00pm on Pine Avenue and 6th Street in an attempt to best represent the diversity and impact of Latin American culture within Long Beach. The parade route will end at The Promenade and 4th Street where the festival, which concludes at 9:00pm, will feature live music, dance lessons, performance groups, delicious authentic Latin American cuisine and a children’s activity area.
The Latin American Pride Festival is an event coordinated between DLBA and the office of Vice Mayor and First District Council Member Robert Garcia.
