The Arts Council for Long Beach will accept applications for their 2021-2022 grant cycle until Sept. 30.

Supported through the City of Long Beach’s allocation for the arts, there are three types of grants to help Long Beach artists, organizations and initiatives: the Community Project Grant, Operating Grants I & II, and Professional Artist Fellowship Grants.

Arts and cultural organizations are encouraged to apply for the Community Project Grant, which serves to support and encourage more diverse, innovative and creative programming. Funding for recipients can range from $1,000-$5,000. Applicants must submit by 5 p.m. on Sept. 30 to meet the deadline. Click here for more information and guidelines on applying.

The Operating Grants offer unrestricted operating support to local arts and cultural organizations (with an annual budget over $250,000), provided their primary goal is to collect, preserve, present and/or commission exemplary works of art.

This can apply to a number of arts disciplines including but not limited to visual art exhibitions, theatre, dance and/or musical performances. However, the art must be of regional significance, intended to benefit the general public. The organization must also provide educational opportunities that help audiences better understand and appreciate the arts. The deadline is 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 30, click here for more info.

Long Beach artists of any discipline may apply for the Professional Artist Fellowship Grants so long as they actively live, work or create in the city and can also show proof of active projects or production records in the last three years. Artists must submit applications by 5 p.m on Thursday, Sept. 30. Click here for more information.

Past recipients include painter Ali Smith, muralist Jason Keam, multimedia sculpture artist Martin Alexander Spratlen Etem and more.
