More than 100 riders pedaled their two-wheeled modes of transportation, health and charitable support, for the 2nd Annual Long Beach AIDS Ride (LBAR) on Saturday morning, November 15. So far, the event has raised over $25K in an effort to help support the HIV and AIDS related services at the LGBTQ Center for Long Beach and the Comprehensive AIDS Resource and Education (CARE) program at St. Mary Medical Center.

Participants were able to choose from a 75, 40, or 8 mile family fun ride. It was an exceptional day by the shore as participants cruised it, clad in jeans, tshirts and neon nikes, while others who endured the lengthier route put their pedals to the metal, literally, in clipless cycling shoes and bibs.

The event is designed to support local Long Beach efforts with the education, prevention and treatment of the HIV/AIDS pandemic and related illnesses. The LBAR is a platform to increase positive, life affirming experiences for those infected, as well as affected, by HIV within our Long Beach community.

If you weren’t able to drag that rusty bicycle out of the garage for the ride, you can still support the cause by donating here.
