The Long Beach Chorale returns to beautiful Rancho Los Alamitos for Garden Party, the final performance of its 19th season. The concert, under the direction of Artistic Director Eliza Rubenstein, will be presented on Sunday, May 18, at 3:00 p.m. on the lawns of Rancho Los Alamitos.

The family-friendly program includes a colorful menu of songs on the theme of flowers, trees, plants, and even bees and mosquitoes! You’ll hear folk songs from China, Hungary, and Russia, favorite madrigals and part-songs, and selections from Leonard Bernstein’s Trouble in Tahiti and Marsha Norman and Lucy Simon’s The Secret Garden.

Rancho Los Alamitos features some of Long Beach’s most glorious gardens, which will be in full bloom for the event. Parking for concertgoers is free at CSULB’s Lots 11B and 11C, just off Palo Verde Ave.; free shuttles will take guests to and from the concert site from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. Refreshments will be available at the performance.

The Long Beach Chorale is an all-volunteer chorus whose performances of a wide variety of music have earned them a reputation as “our best local chorus,” according to Jim Ruggirello of the Long Beach Grunion Gazette). Ruggirello had high praise for the Chorale’s 2006-07 performances this season, writing in November that “One is compelled, when confronted by yet another superb performance by an ensemble as consistently excellent as the Long Beach Chorale, simply to say that they’ve done it again.”

Admission is only $15, or $13 with valid student identification. To purchase tickets or for more information, visit the Chorale’s secure website, WWW.LONGBEACHCHORALE.ORG, or call the Chorale at (562) 427-1931.
