Serving others this season is a priority among city leaders and food organizations, and for the eighth year in a row, Long Beach City Councilmember Dee Andrews is contributing what he can to the “season of giving”—with all of us Long Beach residents benefiting.

Andrews will be hosting his Eighth Annual “Serving with a Thankful Heart” Thanksgiving Banquet on Monday, November 23 at Ernest S. McBride Park, he announced this week.

Guest servers for the festivities include Congressman Alan Lowenthal, City Manager Pat West, City Prosecutor Doug Haubert and Long Beach Convention and Bureau President Steve Goodling.

“It is hard to believe that for eight years we have been honoring our community with delicious holiday meals,” said Andrews in a statement. “This is my favorite time of year because those of us who may have much get a chance to honor those who may be less fortunate.”

A mouth-watering lunch of traditional favorites that include turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, mac and cheese, carrots and string beans will be served between 11:30AM and 2:00PM that Monday. A dinner serving up the same classics, including a dessert of cake and pies will be served between 5:00PM and 7:30PM.

Last year’s banquet provided a feast to 1,500 individuals, Andrews stated.

To attend the free function, RSVP before Friday, November 20th at the Ernest McBride Park, or contact Councilmember Andrews’ office at 562.570.6816.

The event is hosted in partnership with the Long Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Hilton, Hyatt, Renaissance, Westin, Long Beach Courtyard and Hotel Maya hotels and the Long Beach Yellow Cab Company.
