10:32am | The Long Beach Police Department awarded two of its Explorer Scouts #295 the Gold Explorer Awards on July 21, 2011 at an event sponsored by the Orange County Law Enforcement Explorers Advisors Association. The two young people honored by the LBPD were Charles Pruiet and Jessica Brunick.

The ceremony was held at the Irvine Ranch Outdoor Education Center in Orange with more than 150 in attendance. Awards in the categories of Life Saving, Gold Explorer, Golden Advisor, Retirement Recognition and Award for Merit were awarded to 22 Explorers, leaders and volunteers.

Charles Pruiet has been a member of the LBPD Explorers #295 for two years and serves as Acting Commander. He is currently attending Long Beach City College studying criminal justice and works as a security guard at a local Target store. Pruiet was nominated for his ”go-to-attitude in helping others, his incredible work ethic and his accomplishments as a team leader.”

Jessica Brunick has been a member the Post for 18 months and attends Lakewood High School, where she is a cross-country runner. She plans to attend California State University, Long Beach and major in criminal justice.  Brunick was nominated for her “ability to motivate others in the Post, her reliability and hard work ethic, as well as for her work at DUI check points and participating in ride-alongs.”
