Bill Lanham is a musician, studio and stage technician, audio engineer, electronics wiz, and resident genius for many top touring and recording artists. He played bass on tour with Joe Walsh, and worked as a touring backline technician for Don Henley, Boz Scaggs, Michael McDonald, Ted Nugent, Korn, Tears for Fears, Spandau Ballet, ABC, Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark, and the Psychedelic Furs.

This Friday, he’ll be performing with Spirit of Zeppelin at diPiazza’s Restaurant & Lounge. Now, before you scoff dismissively, consider this: The guitarist and front-man for the group is Frank Simes. Simes, although not a household name, has probably worked with someone you love and respect. He’s currently the music director for The Who and Roger Daltry, and has recorded and/or performed with Mick Jagger, Sylvie Vartan, Englelbert Humperdinck, Martha Davis, David Lee Roth, Warren Zevon and Roger Waters.

The trio is rounded out by local drummer darling, Mark Romans, who’s played in countless bands as part of the Long Beach music scene.

In this video interview, Lanham speaks about growing up in a very musical family, his vast collection of instruments, his love of modular synthesis, and his rather low opinion of Led Zeppelin records.

diPiazza’s Restaurant & Lounge is located at 5205 East Pacific Coast Highway. On Friday, the music starts at 9:00PM. There’s a $10 admission.
