Singer, songwriter, and musician Samantha Church is visiting Long Beach through March, avoiding the winter weather in Charleston that makes busking difficult. With a background in theater, she crafts songs that she calls ‘3 minute plays’ that, with her powerful, soulful voice and plunky banjo, reverberate across busy streets and in the hearts of passerby.  In fact, after seeing her perform in front of Pine Avenue’s MADE in Long Beach, downtown artist and branding guru Mick Victor was so taken by Church that he called me up, insisting that I had to meet her.

In this interview, Church speaks about her musical sisters and the challenges of busking in Chicago subways, in addition to sharing an original song.
