Last weekend, I went to a wedding in Mexico for one of my girlfriend’s family members. I returned Tuesday to see the news that two car washes in Long Beach were raided by immigration agents on Sunday in a chaotic scene that has also played out at similar businesses across Los Angeles.
It’s easy to feel powerless against these seemingly random raids, but there are small things you can do.
We published a story this week about a former Beachwood Brewing employee who devised a way to support immigrants facing detention or deportation: a special line of beer. The team at ISM Brewing joined in and quickly sold out, but — if you’re so inclined — there are plenty of other breweries where you can buy a beer to support the cause, including Long Beach Beer Lab.
