11:34am | As you may recall, it’s not (just) your grandfather’s Long Beach Playhouse anymore. And
to further bring home that point, beginning this Thursday with Samuel Beckett’s “Waiting for Godot,” every Long Beach Playhouse show will open with a Thursday-night preview that is a pay-what-you-can night.
“Itβs our way to extend the theatre experience to every community member,” says Daisy Ramirez-Gutierrez, the playhouse’s marketing manager.
While money is, of course, accepted for these shows, so is nonperishable food β even pet food.
If you can’t make the Thursday show, Friday is a half-price preview β which in this case is $11. That’s a pretty good deal for catching one of those classic stage works that deserves every bit of its renown.
“Waiting for Godot” opens in preview this Thursday, April 7, (opening night April 9) and runs at 8 p.m.
Thursday through Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday through May 7.
