Special alert: SB 250, the Pet Responsibility Act, will have its last Senate vote Today (Tuesday) in the full Senate. If the bill passes the Senate, it could reach the governor’s desk and become law, saving countless pets from unnecessary death in our shelters. A blast e-mail sent by tireless animal advocate Judie Mancuso stated that “seven senators have made it clear that they wish to hear more from SB 250 supporters before casting their final yes vote. If SB 250 passes, hundreds of thousands of dogs and cats are spared euthanasia in the next decade. If it doesn’t pass, those excess animals continue to be born simply to die.

Bixby Coyote Sightings Prompt Workshop
All Long Beach residents concerned by recent coyote sightings and activity in the Bixby area are invited to attend “Living with Coyotes in Bixby Knolls” on June 10. District 8 Councilmember Rae Gabelich and the Animal Care Services (ACS) bureau will cover wildlife rules and regulations, identifying normal and abnormal wildlife behavior, removing attractants, and ACS response.
