11:00am | Somebody raided some substance from someone somewhere in downtown Long Beach sometime on Wednesday.

As of this time, that’s all we know about the apparent drug bust that you can see in these photos. Photographer Daniel DeBoom captured these shots of a law enforcement agency loaded what appears to be edible marijuana into a truck. The substances had apparently been raided from a property near Zephyr Vegetarian Cafe near the intersection of 4th Street and Elm on Wednesday afternoon.

Witnesses said that the officers also searched Zephyr, and damaged refrigerators in the process. We cannot confirm this because messages left with Zephyr were not returned. But that’s far from the bizarre part.

In trying to find out what happened, the Long Beach Police Department directed us to the California Highway Patrol. After being transferred to several different offices and headquarters from Burbank to Winterhaven, the California Highway Patrol said that they were assisting the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and that they could answer any questions.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, however, transferred us to several different offices from Whittier to Norwalk before finally suggesting we contact Narcotics Captain Ralph Ornelas. Messages left with Captain Ornelas’ officer have not been returned.

Of course, the photos show agents bearing the label Department of Justice. So we don’t know much about what happened on Wednesday afternoon.
