6:01am | Rainbow Lagoon Park was transformed into the setting of a N’awlins-style celebration over the weekend, when thousands of all ages gathered for the annual Long Beach Bayou and Blues Festival. Long Beach Post photographer Dale Brown was on hand both Saturday and Sunday to capture the colorful energy.

The two-day fest  offered two stages featuring lively Zydeco and hearty blues music that kept many a’movin’ on the dance floor. And with headliners including Barbara Morrison and recent Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame inductee Dr. John, who could blame them?

The city was given a taste of what the Gulf Coast has to offer at the 25th annual event. A Mardi Gras parade was led by the New Orleans Traditional jazz band. Other attractions included a French Quarter marketplace, traditional N’awlins fare, crawfish- and watermelon-eating contests, dance lessons and arts-and-crafts tents for the little ones.
