In an attempt to find information about possible murder suspects, homicide detectives from the Long Beach Police Department passed around reward flyers in the North Long Beach neighborhood where 14-year old Eduardo Rodriguez was shot and killed a few weeks ago. The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors recently approved a $10,000 reward for anyone who provides information leading to the apprehension or conviction of the persons responsible.
Rodriguez, a freshman at Jordan High School, was playing video games at his home near the 1600 block of East 53rd Street on November 17 when he answered a knock at the door and was shot and killed. Authorities have determined that the shots came from behind a metal gate and that the suspects likely could not tell who they were shooting at. Police say the shooting is being investigated as gang-related. A family member of Rodriguez has gang ties and used to live at the residence.
Anyone with information contact the Long Beach Police Department Homicide Detail at 562.570.7244. You can also provide anonymous tips at longbeach.gov/police, although anonymous tipsters are not eligible for rewards.
