UPDATE | The Queen Mary’s inaugural Queensway 5K race will now take place on March 29 due to weather conditions.
It was originally scheduled to take place March 22 but forecasters expect the wettest storm of the season to take place Tuesday night through Thursday. The time and location will stay the same, according to officials.
Proceeds from the Queensway 5K run will still go to the Long Beach Unified School District and Long Beach Ronald McDonald House, a program that provides homes and resources for families with children that are facing critical illnesses.
The event will include themed activations and characters such as 4th of July stilt walkers, Art Deco classic cars and dancers, ScotsFestival Highland Games and entertainment, Dark Harbor’s infamous scare sliders and much more.
The event will finish at 8:30PM.

2/9/18 at 1:54PM | The Queen Mary is hosting its first Queensway 5K race through the Queen Mary Events Park and Long Beach Harbor on March 22.
Participants have the option to run, walk or jog during the race. The Queensway 5K will have an on-site registration beginning at 3:00PM along with organized stretches and music for attendees. The 5K race will begin at 5:15PM and is expected to finish by 6:30PM.
“We are excited to bring Long Beach together to celebrate the community with family and friends,” said Queensway 5K producer Quentin Roberts in a statement
The Queensway 5K is donating a portion of its proceeds to the Long Beach Unified School District. The profits are to help fund transportation for the educational field trips for Long Beach schools.
“We want to encourage students to learn the amazing history of Long Beach and explore the many educational institutions offered in the city, like the legendary Queen Mary,” said Roberts.
Participants will be able to see the Long Beach city skyline during the course across the Queensway Bridge, while signature Queen Mary characters and icons will be placed along the 3-mile course. Music, celebratory medals, food and vendors will be located at the finish line for runners.
Commodore Everette Hoard will also give a speech during the celebration. There will be food trucks and food booths that include food tastings from the Queen Mary restaurants, Chelsea Chowder House & Bar and Sir Winston’s. Local craft beer will be available at the beer garden for those 21 and over. One complimentary brew and tastings from the Queen Mary restaurant are included with each race registration.
Roberts added that they hope around 300 attendees will participate in the Queensway 5K race.
The beer garden closes at 7:30PM and the event will finish at 8:00PM. Tickets for the 5K run costs $35 per person and team discounts for groups of five or more are available.
