Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl in all his glory performing at Fingerprints Music in Long Beach on Saturday, April 16.

Rand Foster has created more excitement around the East Village in the few short months since he arrived with his record store, Fingerprints Music, than anything I can recall in the 10 years or so since I first called this art community home.

This past Saturday, Foster booked the rock band Foo Fighters, fresh off appearances on SNL, Late Show with David Letterman and The Daily Show, to play an intimate concert at Fingerprints’ new digs at the old Lyons Art Supply store on East Fourth Street.

To put into context just how special this little 200-person-capacity show was, consider the Foo Fighters’ next few tour dates are at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Okla., the Verizon Arena in Little Rock, Ark., and the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tenn.

If you missed the biggest little show to ever hit the East Village, you can read about it in Rolling Stone magazine, which interviewed Foster after the event.

And if you don’t want to miss future shows, visit FingerprintsMusic.com and sign up to receive their e-mail newsletter about upcoming events.
