Recording artist GIVĒON recently unveiled a new recording studio at VIP Records in Central Long Beach, which he hopes will inspire the next generation of young artists.

The newly-designed, state-of-the-art studio is the result of a partnership with GIVĒON, a seven-time Grammy-nominated R&B artist and Long Beach native, tequila brand Tres Generaciones and World Famous VIP Records, founded 43 years ago.

VIP owner Kelvin Anderson said he was overwhelmed and surprised by the generosity of GIVĒON and the tequila company, which sponsors GIVĒON.

“I had just told a few of GIVĒON’s people about my plans for the building, and they said, ‘Oh let’s make it happen,'” Anderson said.

Anderson says details on how artists can book studio time will be up on their social media pages soon. He even hinted at wanting to launch new artists into the business, which he used to do under a record label called At Last VIP Entertainment.

VIP, in fact, was the place where artists like Warren G, Snoop Dogg and the late Nate Dogg made their mark in a makeshift studio in the back of the record shop. Anderson said he originally opened that studio to give kids an alternative to gang life.

GIVĒON said VIP records played an integral part in his musical career. He also understands the importance of independent local music stores and says vinyl and CDs are a piece of music history and the only way we touch music.

He applauded the longevity of VIP Records: “This will always be first. This will always be stable.”

He also says he will always be grounded in Long Beach.

“Community is the thing,” GIVĒON said. “I have to make sure I always come back to Long Beach.”

He says he wants to give Long Beach another sound outside of Hip-Hop and wants to encourage other artists to do the same. He is hopeful the VIP Studio is helpful with that.
