The scaffolding is down and the construction crews are gone. After being closed for three weeks to undergo an extensive remodel, the Long Beach Rock Bottom reopened on Monday with an updated interior look and a new food and drink menu.

Open on the corner of Pine Ave. and Ocean Blvd. since 1997, Long Beach’s Rock Bottom is the second in the chain to receive an aesthetic refresh, which includes expanded patio and bar seating, enhanced brewery views, an open kitchen and service line as well as updated decor. With the new patio and dining room additions, seating was increased by 20 percent.

The new menu is being rolled out at all Rock Bottom’s nationwide and includes updated versions of its standard pub fare as well as additional new items—like street tacos and shrimp enchiladas—that feature a more Southwest influence. Also added to the updated menu were more lighter options as well as meat alternatives for burgers.

Though the cocktail menu now features more variety, the beers seem to be the only thing unchanged during this massive refresh. Long Beach’s Brewmaster Hayley Shine (who also oversees brewing operations at other Rock Bottom locations) has won multiple awards for her house beers including the Rocktoberfest, which is currently on tap. The beer menu also features a kölsch, a white ale, an IPA, a red ale, and a rotation of dark beers.

Rock Bottom is located at One Pine Ave. (562) 308-2255.
