11:10am | 16 semifinalists have been identified to perform live as part of Sing!, a national vocal talent competition for choirs, choruses, gospel singers, glee clubs, vocal groups and soloists. With more than 4,700 votes generated, the Long Beach community selected the 16 semifinalists to perform live at The Pike at Rainbow Harbor on October 1st and 8th, and ultimately represent Long Beach in the national Sing! competition.
“Sing! struck a chord with our community, and the fans came out in full force to show support and vote for their favorite performances,” said Shannon Johnson, Marketing Director for The Pike at Rainbow Harbor. “The live performance round is very exciting as it provides a stage for our local musicians to showcase their talent and an opportunity for the fans to come to our centers and hear the groups and soloists they voted to perform.”
The live performances will take place at KDB in the main event room from 12:00pm to 3:00pm on Saturday October 1 and Saturday, October 8, 2011. Judges and fan text voting will narrow the field from 16 to 3 semifinalists. Video of the three selected semifinalists’ performances will be uploaded to The Pike’s Sing! website, where fans can vote for their favorite performances from October 10 – 16. One finalist will be selected to move on to the final, national competition and compete against the other participating Sing! properties.
The semifinalists scheduled to perform on October 1 are Wes Riggs, Nicola Monday, Kristin Rush, Natalia Loya, Mimi Sledge, Keyshawn Stone, and Andrew Ortiz.
Scheduled to perform October 8 are The Beach Girls, Simply Put, 1080p, Jordyn Kazaroff, Lyric Mena, Regina Nufable, Jacques Holden, Bud Morries, and Vicki LaCombe.
There are two Sing! prize packages, one for the winning group and one for the winning soloist. The winning group will receive an opportunity to participate in a singing, songwriting and recording session with two-time Emmy award winner Kevin Briody, as well as $5,000 in MasterCard gift cards and a $20,000 donation to the charity of their choice.
Soloists are also competing for the chance to win an opportunity to record a song with Kevin Briody, as well as a $5,000 donation to the charity of their choice and $2,500 in MasterCard Gift Cards.
