The opening artists’ reception for “Strength & Vulnerability” is taking place this Saturday, July 12th, from 7 – 9 PM at the 2nd City Council Art + Performance Space. More than 40 artists will have works featured in the jurored exhibition.
The Lap Steel Duo will make the gallery their second stop on their month-long whirl-wind tour of Long Beach. The duo performs primarily original, instrumental music on lap steel or “Hawaiian” guitars, although their music is not necessarily influenced by the Islands.
Also featured is a Special Archeo Exhibit, Zotecaqs, which will feature “cultural protectors, and ceremonial and ritual specimens” by Jim Hornung.
The gallery is located at 435 Alamitos Avenue, just South of 5th Street. Regular gallery hours are from 12-5 PM Wednesday – Sunday. More information can be found on-line at 2ndCityCouncil.org.
