Long Beach Photographer Turns Vintage Photo of Doors’ Frontman Jim Morrison into Public Art

It was the summer of 1967 when Jim Coke– a Long Beach-bred student photographer shorthanded with just two rolls of film for the entire festival since he was, well, a student—snapped shots of The Doors’ Jim Morrison during a performance in Northridge. The resulting “Scream Sequence” is now on display at Fingerprints along with a mural of one of the photos, all in honor of what would have been the frontman’s 70th birthday.
