Last month, La Esperanza celebrated the grand opening of its second location, a colorful storefront on Alamitos Avenue that serves banana-leaf-steamed tamales, pumpkin-seed sauces and dozens of other traditional, indigenous-rooted dishes familiar to Long Beach’s small but growing Guatemalan community.
