Here’s our picks for Fourth of July fun in Long Beach, which this year falls on Wednesday.

July 3

Big Bang on the Bay: Boathouse on the Bay, at 190 N. Marina Drive, will again host is pre-Fourth of July celebration with dinner, fireworks and entertainment on Alamitos Bay from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. July 3. Event also includes vintage flyovers, skydivers, dancing and a sailing regatta. Block party seating is $50/person (Kids 10 & under $30) Visit childrentoday.org for block party tickets.

July 4

Queen Mary: An “all American 4th of July celebration” is planned aboard the ship: a fly over with World War II-era Marina Corps T-6 Texas, live entertainment, games, crafts, a movie and more. The event sells out every year, so get your tickets early. Event is from 2 to 10 p.m. July 4. Cost is $44 for adults over 12, if purchased before July 4; $59 on the day of the event. $24 for children (pre-purchase) or $39 on the day of the event.

Aquarium of the Pacific: Celebrate Independence Day with the red, white, and blue fish at the Aquarium of the Pacific. Freshly-grilled BBQ (hot dogs, brisket, baked beans and more), Queen Mary fireworks, journey inside the sea until 10 p.m. Cost is $14.95 for guests after 5 p.m.; BBQ is $64 for adults, or $54 for members; kids are $28, or $18 for members.

Harbor Breeze Cruises: Take a two and a half hour cruise into the Pacific Ocean and see wildlife on the Fourth of July. Adults, $45; seniors $40; children 3-11 $30, toddlers are free.

Kids Bike Parade: Justin Rudd will hold a free bike parade for kids at 10 a.m. July 4 at 1 Granada Ave. Other events planned: a 9:30 a.m., kids patriotic speech contest (90-seconds max., per speech), free; and a 9:50 a.m., kids patriotic costume contest.

Several local restaurants, including Fuego at the Hotel Maya, Parker’s Lighthouse, The Reef restaurant—all tied to the Queen Mary fireworks—will host special events on the Fourth.
