We’ve got some cool things to gawk at, watch, and even dress up for this weekend. Enjoy!

SOCIAL JUSTICE YOGA WITH EBONY UTLEY (Thursday)

If you’re not altogether sure what social justice yoga entails, think of it as a relaxing yoga session and pep talk on how to be an upstanding, involved community member.

Led by Cal State Long Beach professor and author Ebony Utley, this free virtual yoga session is modeled after “Kemetic Yin” which combines ancient Egyptian yoga with mindfulness, meditation and conversation about how yoga can be a form of care for oneself and one’s community.

You can register for the yoga class, here. Class starts at 5:30 p.m.

DIXIE’S HAPPY HOUR STARRING DIXIE LONGATE (Friday)

For over a decade, actor and comedian Kris Andersson toured the country as his drag persona, Dixie Longate, a fiery southern redhead who entertained the masses with her raunchy “Tupperware parties.”

In an effort to help save the community stages, many of which hosted her show, “Dixie’s Tupperware Party,” the drag queen has launched a new virtual series dubbed “Dixie’s Happy Hour.” What’s more, 80% of ticket sales will directly benefit the P3 Theatre Company. Show runs March 12-28.

Purchase your tickets, here.

The newest works to adorn the Dark Art Emporium’s walls feature art by illustrators Vince Locke, Brian Mercer and Ryan Bartlett. All three visual artists have made a name for themselves in the world of dark, macabre art and heavy metal music—Cannibal Corpse fans in particular might recognize Locke’s grotesque tableaus, as the artist has produced all the album art for the world-famous death metal band.

Tune in to check out the new art and hear from all three artists Saturday March 13 at 7 p.m. during the gallery’s virtual reception on Facebook. You can RSVP, here.
