07/09/15 at 4:01PM | Next Saturday, July 18, Downtown Long Beach Associates (DLBA) will continue its free Summer and Music Festival with the Bicycle Drive-In event, which features a concert and a screening of The Wizard of Oz in the Promenade parking lot.

The concert will feature the Long Beach band MOVE, performing Laserium hits, and offer participants a chance to enjoy Silent Disco. All are encouraged to bring their bicycle.

“If there are two things the DLBA is undoubtedly behind promoting, it is alternative transportation and free music,” said Kraig Kojian, president and CEO of the DLBA in a statement. “Creating events that cater to alternative transportation and make it convenient for attendees to walk or take their bike is essential for both our organization and a healthier DTLB. And let’s be honest: who doesn’t want to ride in to a free screening of The Wizard of Oz?”

The Silent Disco element of the concert provides $5 wireless headphones to those who wish to participate, allowing patrons to enjoy curated music and a soundtrack designed to be paired with The Wizard of Oz. Participants can also score a pair of headphones and a discounted beer from Beachwood BBQ and Congregation Ale House for $10.

“I think everyone has had—or at least dreamt of—that magical summer night at the drive-in,” said SAM Co-Founder Rand Foster in a statement. “We want you to re-live that magic but in a different way…It’s time to get out of your car, hop on a bike, and have a moment where you experience something truly great: seeing your neighborhood from a human level while experiencing free music, a free movie, and an entirely unique atmosphere.”

The Bicycle Drive-In will take place between Third Street and Broadway on the Promenade. For more information, visit the event Facebook page, here.
