Keep calm, it’s almost the weekend. You have survived your grueling (or maybe super awesome, we don’t know your life) work week and are looking for ways to unwind. Don’t worry, we have some smashing suggestions on where you should go to relax, have fun, and even get yourself a little culture this weekend.

Here are the Post Picks for what to do in and around Long Beach this weekend:

Q Films Festival: It’s here, it’s queer and it’s ready to start rolling. The QFilms Festival is back, and this year’s lineup promises to take you on an unparalleled emotional journey. Parking is limited, so make sure to allow plenty of time to find a spot. Tickets available online.

2nd Saturday Art WalkSupport local artists, grab some grub and listen to music at the monthly 2nd Saturday Art Walk. This month’s Art Walk will play host to the green warrior rock outfit Slushbox and their FREE 45-minute rock ’n’ theatre extravaganza that is Find Your Own Steeple. The performance starts at 8:30PM between First St. and Broadway on Linden. Art Walk takes place in the East Village Arts District; street parking is available in the surrounding neighborhood, but you might consider walking, riding a bike, or taking the bus.

God Help the Girl: Okay, we are cheating a little bit with this one since it is happening in Santa Ana, but the Long Beach Cinemathique is hosting the event, so I think we can let this one slide. If you love the Scottish indie-shoegaze outfit that is Belle and Sebastian, this is definitely one event you are not going to want to miss. Doors for the event open at 7:30PM on Friday, September 12 and will be held at The Frida Cinema, located at 305 E 4th St. in Santa Ana. Get your tickets here.
