As the official Oktoberfest kicks off in Munich on September 16, a few Long Beach events are taking place to celebrate the weeks-long German festival known for heavy beer consumption, traditional Lederhosen attire and a whole lot of merry-making. Check out the festivities taking place below:

The Social List

This Friday at 6:00PM, the Social List will launch its Oktoberfest Beer Club, where those who purchase the $15 membership receive a stein mug, their first beer free, a beer club card and $2 off all draft beers. If members fill all 30 slots on their beer card through October 31, they’ll receive an exclusive coin (only 100 are available) granting them $1 off all beer, a free beer flight during all tap takeovers throughout the year and other perks.

For the Friday celebration of the launch, The Social List will bring over 30 featured beers including Spaten Lager, Franziskaner Weisse Dunkel, Uinta Punk’n, Ballast Point Pumpkin Down, Boulevard Kolsh, Strand Harvest Ball, and more. Also, make sure to stop by the Fall Block Party on October 15.

Rasselbock

Starting Saturday and running through October 28, Rasselbock in Bixby Knolls will provide a cover charge-free celebration of the weeks-long German holiday. The official kick-off will take place at 3:00PM Saturday with a ceremonial keg tap by a local celebrity. Seated guests who purchase an entree drink for free from the keg until it runs dry.

Guests can expect live traditional German music Fridays and Saturdays from 5:00PM to 1:00AM, regularly changing beer and food specials, stein-holding and costume contests every weekend (break out those Lederhosen and Dirndl) and Family Sundays with activities for kids.

A Back-Lot Beer Garden located behind the restaurant will be held on Friday, October 6 during First Fridays, Sunday, October 7, Friday, October 13 and Saturday, October 14. The kid- and dog-friendly “Oktoberfest arena” will feature a beer garden set-up, a full stage with music by a live German oompah band, beer specials, BBQ, sausages, pretzels and more.

Long Beach Oktoberfest

On Saturday, October 14 at The Pike Outlets (upstairs above the Nike Outlet Store), expect non-traditional food vendors, oompah music courtesy of DJ Jammit, stein-holding contests, giant Jenga, food vendors and unlimited tastings of craft beer and ciders, while attendees (who must be 21 years of age or older, as in no pets, children or stroller allowed) get to bring home a souvenir mug.

Hosted by Taste of Brews, two sessions will be held, one from noon to 2:30PM and one from 3:30PM to 6:00PM. Proceeds from the event benefit the Long Beach Marine Institute and Make-A-Wish.
