WEDNESDAY, NOV. 6

Calling all artists and general tinkerers is Brickersville, a studio dedicated to the art and craft of building with LEGOs. The program, which runs every day (except Thursday) from 3:30 to 6 p.m. invites anyone to come in and build their own creations from the thousands of LEGOs they provide, for just $10.

During each open studio session there is an artist on site who helps guide the interactive class. You can work on whatever idea you already have or you can contribute to several of the Brickersville ongoing projects. Right now, they are working on creating a model of Shoreline Village with the mini-medium. At the moment, they’re tackling Shoreline’s Ice Cream and Hat shop.

Since their opening in June this year, the three-room studio has amassed a unique collection of LEGO crafted miniatures from locals, tourists and international students. When you arrive, guests are invited to take a 10-minute tour through the space and look at the different creations, and the stories behind them and their artists.

“You’re not going to come and see big models, like you see at Legoland,” said Patricia Tsoiasue, who runs the program. “Our models are usually smaller but they are all organically created by the people who come in. Some are great, some are amazing, and some are created by 6-year-olds.”

Perhaps the only catch to the event is that you don’t get to take home your masterpiece, but your work will get to be displayed in the gallery and, the tours are always free.

Another great thing: The studio also offers specialty sessions like comic book making, robotics, stop-motion and board game designs each month. Days for these sessions vary, so check out their schedule, here.

Giving us a moment’s pause: They’re not sure, either, how they’re going to tackle recreating the Lions Lighthouse in Rainbow Bay, but they’ll cross that bridge when they get there.

Brickersville open studio session runs from 3:30 to 6 p.m. every day except Thursday at Shoreline Village; 429 Shoreline Village Drive. You can find Brickersville studio above Pirates Cove Souvenir Shop. Entrance to each session is $10, but you can purchase a month-long pass for $40 which will also include a storage container for you to keep all your creations and unused LEGOs. Space is limited, so make sure to reserve your space and ticket, here. Parking validation will also be provided.
