The City of Long Beach is looking for volunteers to take part in its Ninth Annual Bike Count, scheduled to take place later this month. Participants can sign up for one or all of the available dates and time slots listed below.

  • Thursday, October 20, 7:00AM to 9:00AM
  • Thursday, October 20, 4:00PM to 6:00PM
  • Sunday, October 23, 12:00PM to 2:00PM

Long Beach has experienced both steady and dramatic increases in ridership with its investment to expand its bikeways network, according to the city. The 25 sites slated for this year’s count are areas that have been identified for upcoming project routes and safety improvements, as well as locations that have been consistently counted in the past, according to the announcement.

The counts help improve the safety of a location and the overall livability of a city by providing metrics regarding safety, capacity, ridership trends and the value of the city’s investments.
