The Taylor Road Show is coming to World of Strings tomorrow, Wednesday April 29th, at 6 PM. They’ll be showcasing some of their new instruments, including some rare one-off custom creations, and talking about how the shape, materials, and construction of instruments affect tone. They’ll also be fielding questions from Taylor owners and potential buyers, and giving away sets of Elixir strings while supplies last.
It’s nearly impossible to avoid musicians in Long Beach. They’re everywhere. If you ask them, they’ll tell you that World of Strings has, for many decades, been a Mecca for those seeking expert advice, repair services, custom instrument building, and the opportunity to play some of the best instruments ever made. It is a home grown cultural resource.
Many years ago Bob Taylor, an acoustic guitar builder in El Cajon, started making innovative acoustic guitars. In a world dominated by giants, many simply discounted him. More than three decades later, Taylor is a well established, well respected maker of fine instruments, and has recently expanded into making electric guitars. World of Strings has been carrying Taylor products for about 8 years.
World of Strings is located at 1738 East 7th Street, on the South side, between Cherry and Walnut. More information is available at 562-599-3913. Admission to the Taylor Road Show event is Free!
